Frequency of Engine Air Filter Replacement
In order to keep the air quality in your engine safe and prevent any long-term damage, you should have this engine air filter replaced once a year at least or twice as much if you put more than 20,000 miles on your KIa annually. This keeps clean air circulating and your engine protected.
Can I Change This Myself?
When it is time to change the engine air filter, you should leave it to the professionals. Because the engine air filter is located beneath the hood and requires the removal of a few pieces, certified technicians should take the time to go in there and remove the air filter so that everything goes back in its right place when the service is over.
Never Neglect Engine Air Filter Replacement Service
Should you decide against changing your engine air filter for a long period of time, the filter will start to break down due to the weight of the particles and debris. When this happens, they can enter your engine and circulate through. While small particles can be caught by your engine oil as a second safety net, this will cause the oil to break down faster and work harder. Over time, larger pieces of debris will enter the engine and can cause it to lock up and damage the belt within. Having to repair your engine is much more costly than replacing your engine air filter.
